Youth Sign-Up Form to Submit an Amicus Brief in Support of Genesis v. EPA
Our Children’s Trust is a nonprofit organization empowering children and youth asserting their climate rights in courts around the world.
This form is to collect information from young people interested in joining an amicus brief, also known as a “friend of the court” brief, in support of the children’s equal protection lawsuit Genesis v. EPA.
On February 11, 2025, Judge Fitzgerald granted the defendants’ motion to dismiss Genesis v. EPA, disregarding key evidence like climate science and testimony from experts who stated that the government’s discounting practices—policies that devalue the future health and well-being of young people—are exacerbating the climate crisis and disproportionately harming children.
The amicus brief will ask the Ninth Circuit to overturn Judge Fitzgerald’s ruling and reinstate the 18 young plaintiffs’ right to a full trial, ensuring they can testify, present their evidence, and have their voices heard in open court. You will have an opportunity to review the brief before signing.
If you are under the age of 25 and would like to join the amicus brief, please fill out the fields in the form below. Someone with Our Children’s Trust will be in contact with you when it is time to join the amicus.
