July 7, 2026: Climate Scientists, Public Health Experts, Children's Rights Advocates, and Florida Environmental Organizations File Amicus Briefs in Support of Plaintiffs’ Appeal

Four amicus briefs were filed in support of the youth plaintiffs' appeal: climate scientists linking the Commission's approval of fossil fuel plans to worsening extreme heat, sea-level rise, and hurricanes in Miami-Dade; physicians and public health experts detailing the mounting health toll on young Floridians; the CLEO Institute and eight youth leaders arguing courts must protect youth rights given their lack of political power; and Healthy Gulf and Indian Riverkeeper affirming that Florida courts already have workable standards to hear the case.
