September 18, 2026: Court Grants Fossil Fuel Industry Groups' Motion to Intervene
The court granted a motion to intervene filed by American Fuel & Petrochemical Manufacturers, the National Association of Convenience Stores, and Energy Marketers of America, which are trade groups that represent gasoline and liquid fuel producers and sellers. They joined the case on the side of the federal government.
The court found that the groups' interest in protecting their members' gasoline sales was distinct enough from the government’s to justify intervention.
