September 18, 2026: Youth-Intervenors File Reply in Support of Motion to Intervene

The youth filed their reply to the federal government's opposition to their motion to intervene as defendants. The government is asking the court to strike down California's clean car standards and prevent CARB from enacting new regulations that protect children’s health from motor vehicle pollution. The youth argued that they have legally protected interests in their health, safety, and religious freedom that would be harmed if CARB's rules are eliminated. For the Hawaiʻi youth, those interests are also protected by the Hawaiʻi Constitution and the Navahine settlement. They also argued that CARB cannot adequately represent their interests.
