December 23, 2025: Court Dismisses Case

The Montana Supreme Court dismissed the youth’s petition, stating that the case should be filed in District Court, which can promptly resolve the legal issues presented in the case. In doing so, the court reaffirmed a key finding from the Held v. Montana decision: that every additional ton of greenhouse gas pollution matters, underscoring the real and ongoing harm at stake and the urgent need for judicial action to protect youth constitutional rights.
